Three steps, from requirement to awarded contract.
Describe what you need, pick a category and province. It reaches only the suppliers who actually work in that trade and that area.
Every quote arrives with a total, a lead time and a deposit percentage, in one list, sorted lowest first.
Accept the bid you want. The others are turned down automatically and the project moves to your archive.
A faster, more transparent way to handle B2B requests for quotation.
Requirements reach suppliers matched on trade and province, so buyers get relevant bids and suppliers stop wading through jobs they cannot serve.
Every quote captures total, lead time and deposit in the same fields, so you are comparing like with like instead of three differently formatted PDFs.
Awarding a bid closes the project, notifies the outcome to the rest, and files it in your archive with the winner and final value recorded.
SupScope is a request-for-quotation marketplace for South African business. A buyer posts what they need once. It reaches only the suppliers who work in that trade and that province, and every bid comes back in the same shape - total, lead time, deposit - so they can be read side by side instead of rebuilt in a spreadsheet.
Finding the right supplier is still one of the slowest parts of running a project. You dig through search results, old invoices and half-remembered recommendations, trying to work out who supplies what you need and whether they even operate in your province.
Then the real work starts. You email a handful of vendors, two reply, and the quotes come back in whatever shape each of them prefers. Rebuilding them in a spreadsheet just to compare like with like costs hours, and by the time you have, the job you were pricing has moved on.
Suppliers have the same problem from the other side. They lose time quoting on work outside their region or their trade, and never hear why a job went elsewhere. Matching both sides on what they actually do, and holding every quote in the same format, is the whole point of SupScope.
SupScope started with a job that should have been simple. The thing being sourced was a little niche - nothing exotic, just not what every supplier keeps on a shelf - and finding businesses who could actually help took hours. Finding them was the easy part. After that came the following up: phoning, emailing, waiting, going back to the search when nobody replied. Most of the time went on working out who to ask rather than on the work itself.
The answer kept looking simpler than the problem: a small program sitting on top of an Excel sheet. Somewhere to hold who does what, where they do it, and what they quoted last time, so the next job did not start from nothing.
That was years ago, and it never got easier. Every project brought the same hunt, the same chasing, and the same pile of quotes arriving in whatever shape each supplier preferred. Eventually working around it stopped being cheaper than fixing it. SupScope is that spreadsheet idea built properly, and built for the other side of it too, because a supplier loses the same hours quoting on work that was never going to suit them.

How SupScope works, what it costs, and what happens to your information.
SupScope is a South African marketplace for business purchasing. A buyer posts what they need once, as a request for quotation. Suppliers registered in that trade and province quote on it with a price, a lead time and a deposit, and the buyer compares the quotes side by side and awards the work to one of them. It covers 22 trades in all nine provinces.
A request for quotation is a written description of what you want to buy, sent to several suppliers so their prices can be compared on the same basis. A good one says what is needed, how much, to what standard, where and by when. On SupScope you write it once and every matching supplier quotes on the same request.
By trade and province. Each supplier company registers up to three trades and the provinces it works in, and a request reaches only the suppliers whose trade and province match it. They see its title, description, category and province, but not who posted it until the buyer awards them the work.
The first 5 are free: a buyer can post 5 requests, and a supplier can send 5 quotes, before paying anything. The allowance belongs to the company and does not expire. After that a buyer account is R499 a month and a supplier account R499 a month, or R748 a month for both on one login. The prices are final: no VAT is charged.
Yes, after the free allowance. A buyer posts their first 5 requests free; after that the buyer account is R499 a month, with no limit on how many requests you post. Buyers and suppliers pay the same flat rate.
No. The monthly subscription is the only charge. Any agreement is between the buyer and the supplier, and SupScope is not a party to it, so the price, the deposit and the payment are settled between the two businesses.
There is no fixed term. Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance through Payfast, and you can cancel at any time from your account page. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the month you have paid for, you keep access until then, and the rest of that month is not refunded.
A South African business that works in one of the 22 trades, in any province. Accounts are for businesses, and whoever registers must be 18 or older and authorised to act for the business. A company can invite its regional reps by email, and give each of them the provinces they cover.
SupScope keeps your email address, company name, the trade and province you work in, and what you publish. It is not sold or used for advertising. Buyers can see suppliers' company names and email addresses; suppliers do not see who posted a request until they are awarded the work. The database is hosted in Ireland, under the European Union's data protection law. You can ask what is held about you, have it corrected or deleted, and complain to the Information Regulator.
When a buyer posts work in your trade and province, SupScope may write once to suppliers whose business email address is published on their own website, to ask whether they would like to hear about work like it. The email says where the address came from. Without a yes you are not written to again, and every email has a link to stop.
Soon. SupScope is in a closed beta for now. Leave your email address in the form on this page and you will get one email, on the day it opens, and nothing else.
Leave your address and you will hear the day it does. Questions before then? Write to us.
